Business is all around us in everyday life. Whatever path you take in life, be it sport, media, music, retail, banking and many more, you will be working for a business. Learning about business will give you an understanding of how businesses operate which you will be able to put into practice once in employment.
The aims of the business department are for all pupils to gain a well-rounded knowledge of business and what it takes to be successful. We aim for pupils to learn different skills and qualities expected in business which will also help them to gain employment after their education. Over the past four years, the department has had a 100% pass rate in all courses which we continue to strive for each and every year.
We work hard in the business department to ensure that pupils gain as much real life experience as possible. We often use guest speakers from business to bring pupils' learning in the classroom to life. We also arrange many trips on business related courses which we believe are crucial to pupils in applying their learning to real life situations.
What further study or employment could following your subject lead to?
Most students who study business in the sixth form go on to study business related courses at University and some go on to employment and apprenticeships.
