Key Stage 4
Following on from their Key Stage 3 study, Key Stage 4 pupils study towards the Edexcel GCSE mathematics examination. This is assessed with two examinations at the end of the course: a non-calculator paper and a calculator paper.
As for Key Stage 3, internal assessment occurs regularly at the end of each unit of work, with a holistic examination at the end of each term. There are also mock examinations in Year 11.
We believe pupils should sit their examinations when they are ready for them. This can take place in the November of Year 10, at the end of Year 10, or at the end of Year 11.
If early entry is to be considered, pupils would need to have made at least four levels of progress since the end of Key Stage 2.
